Your smartphone can do just about anything. It’s not just your phone anymore. It’s also become your camera, your computer, your music player, your video player and now—your wallet.

With a quick tap of your phone, mobile wallet is changing the way you pay. Here’s what you need to know about making fast and secure payments using mobile wallet.

What is mobile wallet?

Mobile wallet is a way to carry your credit and debit card information in a secure digital form on your mobile device, like a smartphone, smartwatch or tablet. Mobile wallet works through an app you download on your smart device. You can make purchases almost anywhere—in stores, in apps or online.

How does mobile wallet work?

Instead of inserting or sliding a debit or credit card, you simply tap your smartphone to a credit card terminal.  Here’s how you get started.

  1. Download the appropriate version of the mobile wallet app to your device. ApplePay®, Google Pay™ and Samsung Pay® are the main mobile wallet services.
  2. Once the app is downloaded, input your credit or debit card information.
  3. When making purchases in a store, look for the mobile wallet symbol at the credit card terminal to make sure it’s a participating business.
  4. Simply, tap or hold your smart device near the credit card terminal and your payment will process.

Is mobile wallet secure?

Rest easy…your information is secure. The mobile wallet app uses a single-use code—not your card number or security code. This means businesses do not see or store your full card number. For added security, you can confirm your identity with a PIN, fingerprint or iris/face scan before making a payment.

Tap it. Pay it. Done. It’s that easy. Use your Partner Colorado Visa® credit or debit card to pay at over one million U.S. merchants with our Mobile Wallet feature. Check out more Mobile Wallet FAQs or ask us for more details.
